The Pastoral Care Team works to strengthen each resident’s relationship to God by providing necessary services to nurture that relationship. Pastoral services include:

  • Spiritual and emotional support
  • Availability of chapel at all times
  • Daily celebration of Mass
  • Prayers offered on a daily basis
  • Sacraments of the Sick and Reconciliation available regularly
  • Closed-circuit television for residents to view all services
  • Team of sisters to visit, counsel and support families and residents
  • Clergy of other denominations

The Medical Staff of attending physicians are directly involved with the supervision of resident care. If the resident’s family physician has not applied for staff privileges, the resident is given the opportunity to choose a physician from the approved Villa list. In addition to attending physicians, the Villa arranges for consultation and treatment with a psychiatrist, psychologist, dentist, podiatrist, ophthalmologist or audiologist. Other services are obtained as needed.

A staff of well-trained registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants provide care twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The nurse manager of the floor directs and coordinates the care according to each resident’s needs and plan of care.

The Rehabilitation Services Department is staffed with professionals in physical and occupational therapy and in speech pathology. Upon the physician’s order, one of the rehabilitation therapists evaluates the resident. To meet individual needs the therapist establishes a complete treatment plan.

The Activities Program provides an activity schedule appropriate to the needs and interests of each resident. The programs encourage each resident’s maximum level of independence, enjoyment and psychosocial well-being.

The Social Workers assist residents and their families in adapting to the Villa. The emotional aspects of the resident’s illness, the treatment and plan of care, along with discharge planning are discussed with the resident and family. The Social Workers also facilitate details of a resident’s return home or transfer to another facility when such movements are appropriate.

Dining Services is committed to providing quality service and well-balanced nutritious meals to our residents whom we serve each and every day. Our staff is trained regarding our diet levels, diet philosophy, as well as the provision of service to our residents at all levels of dining. We offer a 5 week cycle menu that is changed seasonally. Our menu items are homemade and prepared fresh daily. All menu items offered can be mechanically altered to fit your dietary needs. The registered dietitian visits residents periodically, attends weekly resident care conferences and adheres to doctors’ orders regarding diet. Residents are encouraged to eat together in one of the dining rooms.

The Maxims of the Sisters of Saint Joseph are short sayings of wisdom given to our first sisters but meant for all persons who aspire to make a difference in the world:

Have good intentions in whatever you do, but always mind your ego!
